A contract is signed

After interviewing with the Global Services people in the Chicago office of the ELCA on Friday, March 13, we were offered teaching positions for the 2009-2010 school year in Slovakia. We are scheduled to teach in the Evangelical Lyceum in Bratislava and are quite excited by the prospect. For more information about this school, see http://www.ecav.sk/intl/english/lyceum.htm and for more information on the program of teaching in Solvakia, see http://archive.elca.org/globalserve/Slovakia/.

We learned in our interview that the four bilingual high schools sponsored by the Lutheran Church in Slovakia (officially, The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession) were created to attract students by offering them opportunities to be immersed in English classes taught by native English speakers. The program has grown from the one school in Bratislava in 1991 to the four schools distributed around the country.

We have signed and returned the contract today and now must get down to the business of making all the necessary arrangements.
